Transformation of tax and customs administration in a digital economy: new opportunities and challenges

Abstract: In the era of breakthrough digital technologies, many sectors of the economy are undergoing significant changes, the largest companies around the world are rapidly moving in step with digital progress, optimizing their business models. Already, almost all information and business processes have been digitized, and financial transactions cross international and intercontinental borders in seconds. This is a challenge for financial institutions in general, tax and customs administrations in particular. In order to protect budgets, revenue administrators should act in the vanguard of new trends, including progressive tools in the orbit of tax and customs relations, aimed at improving the efficiency of B2G interaction, including its simplification and reduction of time spent on administrative processes.
